The Cycle Challenge has taught me how much I love riding a bicycle. I started in April of this year and I have used the cycle everyday. I've discovered local beauty spots, got fit, saved on petrol and got fit all at the same time. I'm going to carry on using my cycle for as many trips as possible and when we move home I intend becoming a cyclist commuter. No more getting stuck in traffic jams and trying for find a parking for me! So thanks to all the organisers of the challenge for getting me cycling.

Challenge has been the operative word for me during the cycling as asthma and allergies have been making it hard work, but I’ve felt quite pleased in myself for sticking with it and nothing beats seeing the wildlife in Abbey park in the morning. My favourites so far have been the six tiny cygnets and...

Under pressure from a work colleague (she saw it as encouragement!) bike sees daylight after years of sitting in garage, cobwebs are dusted down and off I go on my first bike trip to work. You need to know that I’m a novice cyclist and can only really manage cycling in straight line. Travel to work is...

Well, what can I say!.
I was so apprehensive, agreeing to my first bike ride in more than 15 years. My colleagues at work persuaded me to join in the cycle challenge, many of them are keen cyclists and encouraged us all to participate and have a go.
What they didn't know was my last bike ride, 15 years...

We took our collection of bikes with us on a family holiday to Norfolk, with a custom built cycle rack in the van. Cycling from Wells to Holkham Hall along the cycle track was great fun. The sound of laughter emanated from the trailer as my two year old Grandson enjoyed the experience. (Well, most of...

Our tandem was bought nearly 30 years ago with a legacy from my grandmother, and was named Isabel.
In our 20s, we went on tours and visits all over Great Britain.
When I was pregnant , I was able to get up the hill to the General Hospital, thanks to my husband's efforts!
Our baby celebrated her 1st...

I always had bad experiences with bikes during my youth, often falling off or hurting myself.
I hadn't even thought about cycling again until one day at work an email popped up. It was from Cyclescheme and it told of how I could get a bike to cycle to and from work.
At the time I was paying £40...

My employer, Leics County Council have been very supportive in this challenge. My colleagues greatly supportive - especially when they put up with my cycling gear hanging on the radiator in my office. Thanks!

When I started a new role at British Gypsum one of my first introductions to the plant was when they were doing a presentation for their 3rd Annual Charity Bike Ride from Barrow to Skegness. Over 50 participants had raised over £10k for the local Air Ambulance service. This was a great achievement...

The last time I rode my bike I was pregnant with my son; it seem quite fitting that when I finally get back on a bike, it is once again with my son. Only now he is 13 and we are riding a tandem.
I have been thinking about getting back on a bike once again and cycling to work but how to get him to...

About 10 years ago the family stopped off for two nights in a eurocamp site, heading south through central France. Just after arrival my kids were interested in why I was eyeing up the bike hire section. It emerged over dinner that "coincidentally", as I put it ,the site was just 10 km from the French...
